Former President George Washington's portrait appears on the front of the US Dollar. The dollar has been printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing since 1914. The symbol for the dollar is "$" and is written before the numerical value. The US Dollar is traded on the forex under the symbol USD against the other world currencies. The dollar has been struggling in recent years, due to the slowing US housing market and the quick expansion of the Euro dollar.
