What is Green Investing

Video:

The speaker discusses the concept of green investing.  Green investment focuses on investments in companies who focus on technologies which are ecologically beneficial and produce food, timber, and crops without depleting non-renewable resources.

Green funds, also known as socially responsible funds, target investments in companies who aim to improve the enviroment through the creation of products and services which aid in environmental protection, pollution control, conservation and recycling, and ethical employment practices.  Conversely, these funds avoid companies which engage in arms and nuclear weapons, animal exploitation, human rights abuses & oppressive regimes, environmentally damaging practices, inhumane and exploitative employment, alcohol, tobacco, gaming, and pornography.

There is a discussion as to whether green investors are sacrificing returns in the longer term.  Research suggests that there is no discernable drop off in return for green funds; clean, green resources are becomming a scarcity; thereby raising the value of green initiatives.
