In this first volume, the speaker discusses the construction of a candlestick chart. He provides an explanation of the traditional bar chart and then moves on to illustrate how the candlestick chart provides exactly the same information but provides a better visual representation of the movement of price, allowing quicker identification of the short term sentiment of the market.
He talks through three key components of the candlestick chart; the real body, shadows (or wicks), and the color of the real body (green or red). He discusses how a bullish candle (green body) is constructed and also how a bearish candle is formed.
The speaker then moves on to providing a few examples of variations in candlestick patterns.
