Investing 101 and Simple Moving Averages

This traders goal is to first identify the trend in the market before a position is taken.  To accomplish this, the speaker uses moving averages.  He walks through the calculation of a simple moving average and mentions that it cuts out the noise in a chart.  However, the flaw in this indicator is the lag that is associated to it.
