Money Flow Index Chart Example

Video:

The video provides a detailed explanation of the money flow index, or MFI.  The money flow index is a momentum indicator that measures the strength of money that is flowing in and out of a security.  He suggests that the MFI is similar to the RSI; however, it accounts for price and volume while the RSI only considers price.

Tops are said to be formed when the MFI is above 80 and conversely, look for bottoms to occur when the value is below 20.  Additionally, a good trading signal is triggered when divergences in price and the MFI appear on the chart.  For example, when you see prices moving higher and the MFI index moving lower, a change of trend may be at hand.
