    TSX History


    The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) is the largest stock exchange in Canada.  The Toronto Stock Exchange is the seventh largest exchange in the world and is owned and operated by the TSX group. Their is no official record of when the Toronto Stock Exchange commenced trading, but it is believed that 24 business men created the exchange in or October 25, 1861. 

    TSX Becomes a For Profit Company


    The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE) became a for profit company in 2000 and renamed itself to the TSX.  The TSE has the largest listings of oil and gas companies of any exchange in the world.  There are currently over 400 oil and gas companies on the exchange with over $544.9 billion total market capitilization.

    The TSX trades between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm, with a post market session between 4:15 pm to 5:00 pm.
